On 3 Feb 2024, ten fourth‑year undergraduates presented their bachelor theses; on 6 Feb 2024, three second‑year master’s students presented their master theses. Afterward мы held a small celebration. Great work, everyone!

Our lab delivered eight presentations at SI 2024 (25th SICE System Integration Division Conference) held 18–20 Dec 2024. Thanks for attending!

On 5 Dec 2024, Prof. Dennis Hong (UCLA) visited our lab to give a special lecture and discuss student research. Thank you for coming all the way from the USA!

On 14 Dec 2024 we combined our year‑end party with a special lecture celebrating the lab’s 20th anniversary, featuring Prof. Lee and alumni speakers. Thanks to all alumni who joined—see you next year!

We presented at the 2024 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots & Systems (14–18 Oct 2024) and enjoyed exploring Abu Dhabi. Thanks for coming to our sessions!

Our lab gave ten presentations at the 42nd Annual Conference of the Robotics Society of Japan (3–6 Sep 2024, Osaka Institute of Technology, Umeda). Thanks for attending!

We welcomed 11 new third‑year undergraduates who join the lab from fall 2024. Nine of them plus ~30 current members enjoyed pizza, snacks, and games. Let’s enjoy lab life together!

We attended SII 2024 (IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration) in Ha Long, Vietnam, 8–11 Jan 2024. Bach Thuan Bui won the SIYA‑SII 2024 Award, and we enjoyed valuable experiences in Vietnam.

Our lab gave nine talks at SI 2023 (24th SICE System Integration Division Conference) held 14–16 Dec 2023. Thanks to everyone who came!

At the 39th Annual Conference of the Robotics Society of Japan, doctoral student Yasuyuki Fujii received the Young Presentation Award. Congratulations!

Prof. Lee was selected by CDO Magazine as one of the world’s Leading Academic Data Leaders. Details: “Leading Academic Data Leaders”.
Thuan Bui Bach’s paper was published in the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (visual localization, sparse features, absolute pose regression).
AIS‑Lab alumna Dr. Miran Lee received the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers’ Future Woman Award for her research with us after completing her PhD in 2021. Full list of 2021 JSME awardees: (link).

Graduate students Kugo and Takahashi received the Best Presentation Award for their papers at SI 2021 (https://www.sice-si.org/conf/si2021/).
Yume Matsushita’s survey “Deep‑learning techniques in clinical applications based on gait” was published in the Journal of Computational Design and Engineering (Oxford University Press).

On 2 October 2021, Miran Lee earned her doctorate—our lab’s fourth PhD. Congratulations!

Six first‑year master’s students joined the two‑day online poster session of ROBOMECH 2020 (28–29 May 2020). Although their first conference went online, Facebook let them explore many other presentations in depth.

Our M1 student, Imanaka, won the Best Presentation Award at the SICE‑SI Division Conference.
Our M2 student, Francisco Renteria Rochin, was introduced on the faculty website.
